The Australian Standard for Security Screens

Most homes in Australia usually use security screen doors, which are made from see-through material so that the air may pass through it but is durable enough to withstand any external forces that may come in contact with the house. The market for security screen doors is quite big in Australia that certain guidelines were created and should be met when manufacturing, selecting, and even when installing a screen door. This is known simply as the Australian Standard.

The Australian standard for screen doors, created by the National Security Screen Association (NSSA), commonly involves the durability of the screen door. The material used for the screen may vary as long as it can't easily be broken when hit with significant force. The Australian standard also covers the minor parts of the door. Screws, hinges, locks, and other parts must be of high quality and be as durable as the main door itself. Australian standard-compliant screen doors that are sold in the market have seals of approval as well as codes that set them apart from substandard products.

Security screen manufacturers should strictly adhere to the Australian standard for their doors to be sold in the market. In fact, in most areas, passing the standard is a requirement as it is considered illegal to sell doors that do not have a seal of approval. The adherence to such standards help in ensuring the safety and security of households.
